Please join us in honoring Jewel Mullen, MD, MPH, MPA, who is recognized internationally as a leader in chronic disease prevention, and for her commitment to enhancing health outcomes and improving access to healthcare for underserved populations. A board-certified internist, epidemiologist, and public health expert, she has held leadership roles at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Connecticut Department of Public Health.

Jewel Mullen, MD, MPH, MPA

Dr. Jewel Mullen is a board-certified internist, epidemiologist, and public health expert. She has held leadership roles at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Connecticut Department of Public Health, and is currently an Associate Dean at Dell Medical School.

With degrees from Yale, Harvard, and Mount Sinai, Dr. Mullen is dedicated to advancing access to healthcare and improving community well-being. People’s is proud to celebrate her impact.

 Sharon Malone, MD, OBGYN

Sharon Malone is a board-certified OBGYN with over 30 years’ experience. She is a renowned expert in women’s health, and the New York Times bestselling author of “Grown Woman Talk: Your Guide to Getting and Staying Healthy,” a blend of memoir and medical insight. Dr. Malone’s writing has been featured in The Washington Post and the LA Times. She lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband, former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.

Evan Smith

Evan Smith is a senior advisor at Emerson Collective, working with journalists and funders to support the local news ecosystem. He’s also a Professor of Practice at the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin, where he teaches a course on the politics and issues of the election season. He is the co-founder and former CEO of The Texas Tribune, and former Editor-in-Chief at Texas Monthly. Evan joins Sharon Malone for an engaging conversation on addressing healthcare disparities and empowering people to take charge of their health.
